Since 2020, VOR has been made in Portugal.
Before that, Germany. Before that, Vietnam. Each move was a search for the same thing: a team that treats a sneaker the way we do. In Portugal, we found it, and we’ve stayed.
We went back recently. Not for a photo. To sit with the people who cut, stitch, and last every pair by hand.
It starts before the shoe.
Every model, every colourway, begins the same way: with material. Hides are checked one by one. Grain, thickness, tension, how the leather will age. Most of what’s pulled from the shelf doesn’t make it past this table.
This is the part no one sees. It’s also the part that decides everything else.
Each shape has its own die. A blade set to the exact outline of each silhouette. No two silhouettes share a cut.
Then, the complications.
A cupsole won’t bond evenly in humidity. A stitch line that’s a millimetre off. A colourway that reads differently under Portuguese light than it did in Munich. None of it is dramatic. All of it takes time.
We don’t rush past these moments. We solve them, one at a time, until the shoe is right. Not fast.
Alongside it, something new.
In the same workshop, a new prototype is taking shape.
First cuts, first lasts, first soles. Cleaned by hand before they even left the bench. Marking tape still on. Nothing finished about it yet. Early stages. More questions that answers. We'll share it properly when it’s ready.
